Go Picnic: Ready-To-Eat Meals

Today I had an awesome lunch!!

The other day we were walking through Acme and Joe saw these cute little boxes, Go Picnic Read-To-Eat Meals.  They are great little meals, like Lunchables for adults!  The one he grabbed for me was Salami and Cheese.  The description on the box says : “A balanced meal featuring beef salami slices, olive oil & sea salt crackers, Asiago cheese spread, fruit and nut mix and a chocolate cookie cluster”

The box opens up sideways and already your in for a fun time.  I can only imagine if I was sitting at a desk with this!  The inside of the box has a checkered print, and all the items are individually packaged, so if you don’t eat one or the other, you can keep it for later.  All of the items are all natural, and feature some companies that you may not have tried before.  You could easily eat the meal out of the packages, but I put it on a plate so you could see how much food it actually is!

As you can see, you get a lot!  There were 16 slices of salami, and about 17-20 crackers.  Only 2 of the crackers were broke, I was surprised by that after seeing how much was in the box.  There is a little wooden spreader in the package so you don’t even need to worry about utensils!  The Asiago cheese spread is flavorful, but not overpowering, and was great with the crackers topped with salami.  The fruit and nut mix contained dried cranberries, raisins, cashews and what I thought was white chocolate chips, but turned out to be yogurt chips, and were REALLY good!  (I am thinking about trying the yogurt chips in other recipes now!) The chocolate cookie cluster was a combination of dark and milk chocolate with puffed rice bits and was a nice sweet treat at the end.

Go Picnic makes a large variety of ready-to-eat meals, including everything from hummus and crackers to salmon and cracker meals.  At Acme there were 4 different varieties, but if you go to the Go Picnic website, you can find a HUGE variety.  Check them out here:  www.gopicnic.com

The meal I chose (salami and cheese) had 360 calories, 2 grams of fiber and 10 grams of protien.  It was $3.99 on sale this week at Acme, but is usually $4.99.  While I paired mine with some fresh strawberries, I would have easily been full without them!  One of the other perks??  When your done with your lunch, there is a fun puzzle or game on the inside of the box, with with some fun food facts!

    • I found them at my Acme here in Ellet, and they were in the aisle right across from the soup and broths. It was kind of with the prepared meals! They are still $3.99 when I went this week! We like them all!
