A Taste of South Carolina Give-Away!!!

First things first, I want to apologize for the delay in posting!  The last few weeks have been so busy, and then I have been on vacation!  But the upside for you guys is that means there is a new giveaway!

Every year for the last 20 years or so, my family and I have gone to Pawley’s Island, South Carolina.  It is about 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach and is fresh water on one side and the ocean on the other.  My parents have rented a house there, and after all these years, it feels like a second home.

Anyone who has ventured into the South, knows how much amazing food there is to enjoy!  My husband and I went to dinner this year at a wonderful restaurant, Bistro 217(www.bistro217.com), where he tried soft shell crab for the first time.  We both were pleasantly surprised by how mild and good it was.  It had been Parmesan-crusted, and rested on a bed of tomato-mozzarella salad with fresh basil pesto.  The saltiness of the pesto was an amazing compliment to the mild crab.

We also took the boys to a calabash.  A calabash is a huge buffet that includes seafood, usually lightly fried, but they also sometimes include raw bars.  The one we go to is Crabby Mike’s(www.crabby mikes.com) where the people are friendly and the food is always good.  The boys rarely eat much, but they have a ton to look at!

How does this all work out for you???  Well………..while I was on vacation, I picked up a few things!  Check them out!

In this great giveaway, there is Palmetto Farms Garlic Cheese Grits Mix, three different teas from Charleston Tea Gardens, Lazy Afternoon Crab Dip Mix from the Gullah Gourmet, Charleston’s Own Black Bean Soup Mix, and Carolina Gourmet(at Pawleys) Carmelized Pecan Brownie Mix.  All you have to do is leave me a comment below about your favorite vacation destination, and you’ll be entered to win!  Just do it soon, I’ll be picking a winner on May 16, 2012!  So hurry, and leave a comment today!!

  1. Boston! I flew there a couple of years ago to visit a friend of mine. Amazing place!! My favorite part of Boston was visiting a location where all Irishs are… I am one proud Irish! 🙂 (South End, I think because Italians are on North End! Ha!) Lots of great little cafes, great shopping places, loved, loved the water right off the coast! 🙂

  2. My favorite place to vacation (so far) is Grand Cayman Islands. It’s my kind of fun! Sunny, clear blue water and lots of good food and beverages!!!!

  3. We used to take family trips to a small town in Califorina called Independence. My moms parents lived there. When we drove we got to go through several different states and see many sites such as:Mt.Rushmore,Old Faithfull,Grand Canyon,Corn Palace. We got to camp at Lake Taho.Mom just said we seen Devils post pile too. While in California we got to climb mountains with our grandpa and go to Death valley desert and we went to Yosemite State park. I used to love to travel to California 🙂

  4. Outer Banks in NC. haven’t gone in a while though. hurricane washed out our favorite fishing pier. have been going since I was a teenager.

  5. We’ve gone on many fishing trips to Springfield, Maine over the years, but our vacation wouldn’t be complete without a side trip to St. Andrews by the Sea, New Brunswick. The name says it all – quaint town with lots of shops and great food like fresh crab cakes. The New England governors had a conference in that town several years ago and I can see why – very peaceful and just beauitful.

  6. My favorite destination is Branson, MO in the fall. My family goes there each year and it is a special place in my heart.

I love the giveaway. I just got married and we went to Charleston, SC for our honeymoon in January. We loved it!!

  7. My favorite vacation destination is Bethany Beach, DE. It’s a small family-oriented beach, but just a short drive to other larger beaches and the various amusement parks and boardwalks.

  8. Sadly we have not had a vacation…ever!! I really want to make it to the New England area soon and some day Ireland!

  9. Seattle is my favorite spot. My daughter and son-in-law are out there. Salmon fishing is the best! Love all the Asian foods. Had a great time at the North Canton Library event with you. Also do you have a good Brunswick stew?

  10. My favorite vacations destination is Daytona Beach FL. Before my husband pasted away 8 years ago he and I would take our girls every year. I have been able to take them a few times since he passed but not every year 😦 We always have a great time talking about what we did with dad on previous vacations. It’s a great way to keep his memory alive since they were so small when they lost their father.

  11. My favorite vacation place was Caesars’ Palace Las Vegas. I actually met my husband there in 2000! That is really why it is my favorite! Of course dating him was like a vacation for this Kentucky girl because I always got to see the glitz and glamour of a new casino every time I visited…like the Bellagio fountains, the Paris Eiffel Tower, the Sahara roller coaster, the rotating restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere. And of course who can leave out the buffets and slots? We ended our time in Vegas in style in 2001 at the Special Memories Wedding Chapel then moved to Tennessee. We now live in Washington State. Lots has changed since those days for us and for the city where we met. It sure would be fun to take one more trip to revisit and share with our 8 and 10 year old children the special sites and sounds that make Las Vegas a unique and amazing vacation destination!
